Last night we had too many people for transportation and safe hunting size groups so we split up for this evening. Can’t be more proud of Rory for calling in his first and putting lead on two. I think he’s hooked and he pays attention to detail. We’re going to put down many more dogs this year. Congrats Rory on a brute of a dog. That should be a 40lb dog guessing.
Success or failure?
Trying to get a buddy on his first coyote on a farm that is very active with cattle. Calves were separated today and they were making a good bunch of noise. I picked up a dog near the calves and hit the caller. This girl started heading out away from us, cut hard and followed the tall hay before finally heading back to us. She finally slowed up and had that look like she was going to scatter. My buddy shooting a 22 Mag couldn’t get on her. She was dropped at 206 yards with the 22 Nosler and Halo LR. We’ll try another night to get that first. This dog wanted steaks tonight.
We hunt suppressed to keep noise down for property owners and confuse predators. Here’s an example of 5.56 not suppressed next to a hotter 22 Nosler round suppressed.
One last bucket list. Going to get an ole buddy on a dog to fulfill a personal goal. Fingers crossed we have some video and pics this weekend.
One more for the night!
Our next stand brought out this old gal. She was in rough shape. She had some mange and was covered in ticks. The smell can’t be described. The good ole X2S FoxPro was talking her language and she came in hard. Another happy land owner, 3 mosquito chewed on hunters and one last stand that had them talking but they knew we had their number. The night was over.
New property and more happy farmers.
Tonight we hit a new property with high hopes. Dogs sounding off on the first call and a few minutes later Rory spots this ole boy coming into the field to see who’s intruding on his property. A couple hiccups, one hell of a recovery and some great tracking by Shawn and Rory in some thick stuff and first dog down for this virgin property. Great job.
Rory’s first coyote!
There’s nothing like calling in a dog for someone trying to get their first. Rory made a helluva shot at about 166 yards and it sounded like we connected on a second at over 300. Video filmed from my Halo LR and wasn’t the rifle shooting on the first shot. Congrats Rory! His first is off to the taxidermist for a full body mount.
Second down for the night!
Had them howling a good ways out and pulled this one in. She just couldn’t resist our sweet death music. She wanted to run but was out gunned.
Same night, same success!
Had them howling a good ways out and pulled this one in. She just couldn’t resist our sweet death music.
Just trying to get caught up..
Shawn and I started in the Frostburg area and pulled one in the tall stuff. Had a spinner and it got into the thick stuff. Still a deer and small game killer down.
