I knew it would be a good night on a fresh cut field.
Hit an old property that has produced fox for years but never coyotes. Met up with a new friend (Shawn) to see what we could do. One howl from the FoxPro X2S and we had coyotes answering us. Within two to three minutes we had them come through the cattle and finally one cleared them. Took the shot in the front shoulder to plant it. One male in the books. The other two kept the cattle between us not giving us a shot. Hit one other property with no luck and called it a night. Looking forward to getting out again with Shawn. Good times and glad to meet folks that you can trust.
Called two in and we just couldn’t land both. Amazing how well she ran missing a front paw. Pups were weened and answering our calls. Weather and ticks are starting to get out of hand.
So the moon and barometric pressure has been prime. We’ve been keeping the song dogs on their toes the last two nights. 4 total down, 3 recovered (1 lost in tall grass) and saw 9. They haven’t been extremely vocal until you take the queen from the pack. Pups have been weened so there’s more to come.
Fun night had by all!
Had a great night with these guys. Got Gavin his first a few nights prior. Sam made a great night vision shot in the brush tonight on an older male and we all teamed up on the second of the night at 270 yards. She didn’t go a yard. No signs of pups for this woman. Many thanks to the land owners for blessing us with the privilege of protecting their property.
One and done!
The three omigo’s decided to hit a hard hunted property last night and get rid of some educated coyotes. First stand had a dog talking but didn’t want to play. Moved about 200 yards and 15 minutes later we had a dog coming in on a string. Another dog on the books. Guess next year we will have to start counting. More to come next week. The Halo LR was moved to the AR10 243 after last night. Gavin and Sam were on point as usual. Some new property is scheduled for next week.
